The installation was a part of a group show Turn the Corner, Judy Pfaff’s Installation Class at UBS Exhibition Center, Red Hook, NY, USA
A two-channel synchronized video projection in combination with a minimalist, elongated tubular structure that penetrates the gallery architecture functions as a metaphorical pipe through which the artist’s body slides down the drain. The form of this structure and the dynamics of the figure’s movement evoke a children’s playground slide, suggesting playfulness, movement, and the possibility of joy. However, despite the playful absurdity of the image, the tube’s black surface hints at a less cheerful trajectory, transforming it into something more unsettling.
Materials: wood, paper, staples.
